I was initially scared to do this only because I’ve never written my own poem but they say life begins at the end of your comfort zone so that’s what I’m doing. This poem was inspired by XXXTentacion’s “What are you so afraid of”

Poem
They say swipe right to find your perfect match.
So we swipe hoping our issues will pass.
They should’ve said swipe right to get your quick fix, your quick high.
Then in their term and conditions state that the only way to win this is to exhaust your high and keep telling lies, like… I cant wait to see, I’m not talking to anyone else, I like you.
Trigger words forcing you to comply while they get high off your air supply. Modern dating feels like I’m back in Highschool and my love life is like a cigarette being engulfed by those kids who thought they were cool.
See this game is frozen and feels like if your heart is not the same then you’re not chosen.
What I’m trying to say is maybe you’re not the romantic lead that this film needs but your work is needed behind the scenes. Where you can learn to run ish and in turn become a little grown-ish because that’s what growing is. Realizing there is no quick fix to your photosynthesis. Where there is the sun. There is rain. So I ask you this. What are you so afraid of. Is it love or is it time?
